    Description:

    Project Lead The Way(PLTW) Engineering courses engage students in interdisciplinary activities like working with a client to design a home, programming electronic devices, or exploring algae as a biofuel source. These activities not only build knowledge and skills in engineering, but also empower students to develop essential skills such as probcllem solving, critical and creative thinking, communication, collaboration, and perseverance.

    Expectations and Goals:

    Students are expected to use core skills, critical thinking, technology, and teamwork.  Note-taking and proper documentation of work done.  Follow all instructions and safety measures, and most importantly: to take ownership of their learning experience, and celebrate their accomplishments and seek help when they struggle.

    Grading Policy:

    While grades are not the sole indicator of learning; they are an effective measurement tool and are necessary to evaluate student progress.  Grades will be based upon student activity participation, maintaining proper documentation of their classwork and learning, daily classwork, quizzes, projects, and tests.  The specific grading components of this class are listed below:

    Classwork/Homework: 40%

    Tests: 40%

    Quizzes/Projects: 20%

    Make-Up and Late Work:
    It is the responsibility of the student to obtain all make-up work from the teacher.  All school policies regarding make-up and late work will be followed.  All make-up or late work not completed within the required time period will receive a zero grade.


    Required Materials Remote:

    Internet Access by own device(computer preferred over phone for maximum app compatibility)

    Quad-ruled Notebook, Binder with graph paper, or Quad-ruled Composition Book

    Ruler or measuring tape, occasional supplies for a project like cardboard or popsicle sticks.
